The actual problem

Six friends owe each other fifteen ways. It should be three payments.

Splitting each bill on its own leaves everyone owing everyone. SplitTrip nets the whole trip down to a single balance per person, then pairs the biggest debt against the biggest credit until the board is clear.

For a group of n people that is at most n − 1 transfers — and usually fewer.

Every pair settles separately.

With SplitTrip

3

One netted balance per person.

How it works

Three steps, and the last one is the point.

01

Open a trip

Name it, set the dates, pick the currency you'll actually be spending in. Ten seconds, no setup wizard.

02

Log costs as they happen

Who paid, how much, and who it covers. Invite people by email — they join automatically when they sign up, even if you invited them first.

03

Settle in the fewest moves

We net everyone off and work out the shortest list of transfers that clears the whole group. One screen, no spreadsheet.

What you get

Everything a shared trip needs. Nothing it doesn't.

Minimum-transfer settle up

Balances are netted across the whole group before anyone pays, so a six-person trip usually clears in three transfers instead of fifteen.

Live balances

Every expense updates each member's share the moment it lands. No end-of-trip reconciliation night.

Invite before they join

Add someone by email and split with them straight away. Their history moves onto their account the moment they sign up.

Per-trip currency

Each trip keeps its own currency, formatted the way that currency should be, so nothing is silently converted.

Settlement history

Every payment marked as settled is recorded with a timestamp, so there's no argument later about who already paid.

Trip-scoped access

Security rules gate every read and write on trip membership. People outside the trip cannot reach its expenses.

Questions

Before you start.

Anything else, the answer is probably “yes, and it's free”.
